Quinn and Ryan went on a Daddy Date to the Evergreen Aviation Museum on Friday. They had an awesome time checking out all the airplanes, the Spruce Goose, and all things aviation.

Sela, Sela, Sela

Sela is growing, growing, growing! On the 18th she weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces so she has gained back her birth weight and surpassed it quickly! She will be three weeks old tomorrow. She is still sleepy but has longer times where she is looking around and checking things out. She likes to be swaddled and she likes to eat. In fact, when she wants to eat or wants her diaper changed she can really let you know! She doesn't hold anything back. She hangs out in her sling and it usually puts her right to sleep. She is sweet and dad, mom, and big brother are enjoying her very much. Here are some pictures through the last two weeks--Sela sleeping, acting a little more awake, our first trip to church a week ago, with Grandma Dougherty and Quinn, and with Grandpa Dougherty.

First Day of Preschool

Quinn's first day of preschool was last week and these are a few pictures of the excited boy. He didn't want to "pose" for his pictures but you can see his red school bucket and a quick smile as he heads up the stairs to class. For two and a half hours, two days a week, Quinn gets to go to chapel, have a music class, play with 9 other boys and girls (three girls from our circle of friends), and continue to learn which he is eager to do. He loves figuring out how to spell things, telling us all the letters he sees, how to spell Sela's name, and playing knights, firemen, trains, or any other matter of fun.

A few new pictures

These are not chronological but do show Sela's main activity is sleeping (oh, and looking sweet)!

Meredith's new email address

I have a new email address so make the change :)

mldougher@gmail.com

Look forward to hearing from you...

At home...

It is so good to be at home together. We're adjusting well and glad to have such great supportive family and friends, both near and far. Quinn is doing really well with Sela and it is fun to see him respond to her. He is really, really helpful and sweet though he has his moments of trying to figure out what all this is about or why she cries or all the other things with having a four day old person in your home :) Ryan and I are thankful that our family is all home together and that we are doing this together--Team Dougherty.

I've been processing a lot of things--experiences from Quinn's birth and NICU stay and now this experience with Sela. I'll probably write more about some of those things in the future but I do want to say what a redemptive and awesome experience Sela's birth was--such a healing time for me. I know that the Lord was in each of these babies births through and through. I'm grateful for the prayers the Lord said yes to in this process and we are grateful to be a family of four.

Sela Ruth Dougherty is here!

Sela Ruth arrived September 1st at 2:36 pm weighing 6 lbs. 15 oz. and measuring 19 inches long.

She is very beautiful with quite a bit of dark hair and a striking resemblance to her older brother. Meredith, Quinn and I headed to the hospital at 8:45 am T
uesday so things went very fast and well.

We chose a name for her that has strong meaning and family ties. Her name is Sela Ruth Dougherty (pronounced SEE-luh). Sela is Hebrew for "God is my rock" and Ruth is Meredith's very special grandma on her dad's side. We hope and pray that her life will be filled with the things that her name means and reflects.

Her life verse is Ephesians 3:16-17 (New Living Translation):
I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong.

Meredith did amazing and is doing quite well now. Sela appears to be very healthy and blessed with a sweet disposition. Quinn wasn't sure at first what to do with her as he said that she was smaller than he expected :)
