I am thankful for the opportunity to vote. Ryan and I voted last night...and decided we would keep our process a private one so rest assured that this is not an endorsement for any one candidate.

Quinn did say today that he was going to be president. When I asked him what he was going to do, he said he was going to live in the White House. He continues to ask about Barak, John, Sarah, and Joe (the Biden) plus Wolf (the Blitzer) so you'll know that we've watched a *few* speeches the last few weeks (months, years, decades...oh, has it only been two years?)

We were reminded on Sunday that our job is not to villify either candidate and that no matter who wins, we are called to pray for our leaders--"for kings and all those in authority" (I Timothy 2:1-6). And ultimately our focus is Jesus and not allegiance to any other person, yes?

So my perspective today and tomorrow is...

In Christ alone my hope is found;
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This cornerstone, this solid ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My comforter, my all in all—
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone, Who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save.
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied;
For ev'ry sin on Him was laid—
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain;
Then bursting forth in glorious day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory,
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me;
For I am His and He is mine—
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death—
This is the pow'r of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home—
Here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand.

A song for today...

Come, Thou Fount of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
Sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it,
Mount of Thy redeeming love.

Sorrowing I shall be in spirit,
Till released from flesh and sin,
Yet from what I do inherit,
Here Thy praises I’ll begin;
Here I raise my Ebenezer;
Here by Thy great help I’ve come;
And I hope, by Thy good pleasure,
Safely to arrive at home.

Jesus sought me when a stranger,
Wandering from the fold of God;
He, to rescue me from danger,
Interposed His precious blood;
How His kindness yet pursues me
Mortal tongue can never tell,
Clothed in flesh, till death shall loose me
I cannot proclaim it well.

O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.

O that day when freed from sinning,
I shall see Thy lovely face;
Clothed then in blood washed linen
How I’ll sing Thy sovereign grace;
Come, my Lord, no longer tarry,
Take my ransomed soul away;
Send thine angels now to carry
Me to realms of endless day.

Greater than...

I read this today...and thought it might be a good word for more than just me today.

1 John 3:20 For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.

Psalm 135:5 I know that the Lord is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods.

1 John 4:4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

Job 33:12 For God is greater than any human being.

Isaiah 29:16 (NLT) How stupid can you be? He is the Potter, and he is certainly greater than you. You are only the jars he makes!

Mark 1:7 He (John the Baptist) announced: "Someone is coming soon who is far greater than I amso much greater that I am not even worthy to be his slave."

John 3:31 "He has come from above and is greater than anyone else. I am of the earth, and my understanding is limited to the things of earth, but he has come from heaven."

Hebrews 1:4 This shows that God's Son is far greater than the angels, just as the name God gave him is far greater than their names.
